As we pause to reflect on the horrific event that happened one year ago, we can’t help but remember the incredible sadness that enveloped us all. The pain was palpable. The sorrow was everywhere.

But we will also remember the amazing way this community responded – rallying around the victims, the survivors, and those of us who were simply overwhelmed with grief. We decided, as a community, to not let hate win. Not now. Not ever. That is how we honor the lives of those taken on this day, 2016. That is how we will get through this.

Al parar y reflexionar el horrible evento ocurrido un año atrás, no podemos dejar de recordar la tristeza inmensa que nos envolvió a todos. El dolor era palpable. La tristeza estaba en todas partes.

Pero también recordamos la asombrosa respuesta de nuestra comunidad. Reunidos alrededor de las víctimas, los sobrevivientes, y aquellos entre nosotros quienes simplemente no podíamos más con el dolor. Decidimos, como comunidad, no dejar que el odio gane, ni ahora, ni nunca. Así es como honramos la vida de aquellos que murieron un día como hoy, 2016. Así es como sobrellevamos esto.
